Yates Family Vineyard - Like Father, Like Daughter/s

The Yates family have been growing grapes for nearly 60 years in the Mount Veeder area of the Napa Valley. Mount Veeder is an up & coming wine producing region that provides the intense concentration of varietal fruit flavor of California and the inherent acidity of Bordeaux…… giving wines great strength and refined elegance, and the Yates Family Vineyard wines are exactly this.

Michael Yates spent his summers in these vineyards and developed his love of fine
wine and viticulture from his father, Alden and his grandfather, Perry.
Michael was first a farmer and later a winemaker and thus knows that all great wines come from great vineyards. Choosing the right rootstock and the correct clone for each variety has been a labor of love. His life's enjoyment is sharing these grapes with other wineries that share this passion and creating elegant wines under the Yates Family Vineyard label.
Michaels two daughters, Whitney Yates Hanes - Co-Winemaker and Vineyard Manager, and Mary Yates - CFO & Sales and Marketing Manager, work side by side with their father to collectively make and market the best wine their vineyard has to offer……….and they do! In fact, somewhere I heard they make the 'best wine in the Napa Valley!'
Michael Yates has been bottling his own wines since 1999 under the Napa Redwoods Estate label and decided to proudly change to the Yates Family Vineyard label when his daughters joined in the family business in 2005.
Yates Family Vineyards just opened their tasting room in Sept. 2009 and offer a down to earth and personable wine tasting experience. Enthusiasm soars at this quaint tasting room located in the barrel room of a neighboring winemaker and longtime friend Hendry Ranch Winery.
